Tour the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

12:30-1:45

Lunch (Alabama Power Center)

2:00-3:30

Tour the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park

3:30-5:00

Bus tour of significant civil rights-related sites in Birmingham

Thursday, January 22

Selma

Check out of the  Hotel and load the bus

8:00

Depart for Selma

10:00-2:00

Footprints of Freedom Tour (lunch at a local restaurant)

2:30-4:45

Visit the Lowndes County Interpretive Center

Drive from Selma to Montgomery along the route traveled by the marchers in 1965.  We will stop at the site of Viola Liuzzo’s murder.

Friday, January 23

Montgomery

Be on the bus, ready to depart for the Alabama State Capitol

9:00-9:45

Visit the Alabama State Capital (area where the Selma March ended)

10:00-11:30

Tour the Dexter Parsonage Museum

11:45-12:45

Lunch

Tour the Rosa Parks Museum

2:30 – 4:30

Tour the Civil Rights Memorial Center (Tour includes a speaker from the center’s Teaching Tolerance department and Intelligence Project)
